Goombah

I saw this post that mentioned Goombah.  This is application is a "social networking" application for your music.  This app will you let you network with people with similar tates in music.

Goombah looks at the contents of your iTunes library, and generates a list of similar music, and a list of other people who use Goombah with similar tastes.  From these lists, you have the ability do purchase the tracks from iTunes.

Goobah also displays "Goobah's Free Music".  This this is a collection of free music.  Goombah uses bittorrent for the downloads, so they should be pretty fast.

Unfortunately, I wish there was the ability to generate a playlist of the tracks already in iTunes, that are the most popular, and have those playlists to added to iTunes.

  1. Hi, I'm CTO of the company that makes Goombah. You're right that we don't have a feature that generates a list of your most-played tracks (I assume that's what you mean by "most popular?"). But it seems like it would be a good idea. I'll add that to the list.

  2. I think I misunderstood you. Are you asking for Goombah to create a playlist in iTunes, containing the tracks that your matching members like the most?
So it would automate itunes playlist creation in that way? For instance, you could make a Goombah "search list" with a few of your tracks, and Goombah would expand on that based on what other people like that you also have, and import the result back into itunes?

  3. Hello, That is a great feature. I was actually thinking that I would want to create a playlist of the most popular tracks across all Goombah users, where the songs exist in my local iTunes library
